Alarming video shows knife-wielding maniac repeatedly stab restaurant owner

The owner of a small Middle Eastern restaurant in San Franciscoâs Mid-Market neighborhood says heâs lucky to be alive after a woman stabbed him inside his kitchen during a violent confrontation over the weekend. The attack happened Saturday around 7:30 p.m. at Shawarma Azmi on 6th Street. Azmi Murait, the restaurantâs owner and only employee working at the time, says the violence began when he asked a woman and her friends to leave after witnessing suspected drug activity inside. Video shows the confrontation escalating, with the woman throwing a tip jar at Murait, who responds by tossing a receipt holder at her. The scuffle spilled into the kitchen, where she grabbed a knife and began stabbing him repeatedly. https://www.ktvu.com/news/owner-survives-knife-attack-caught-camera-sf-restaurant

The savage attack unfolded when Azmi Murait, a father of three, asked the woman to leave his Shawarma Azmi restaurant Saturday night after he suspected she was doing drugs, KTVU reported.

Security cameras show the woman shouting and then suddenly hurling a tip jar at the owner, who was behind the register. Murait lunged at his attacker before the scuffle spilled into the kitchen.

“She came after me,” Murait recalled. “I said, ‘I don’t have nothing, just stop.’ The knife was there on the table.”

The footage captured the woman grabbing the huge blade and repeatedly swinging it at the owner as he tried to shield himself with a cardboard box.

He then grabbed a metal colander as he attempted to dodge the knife. Murait said he was eventually able to flee the restaurant and locked the maniac inside as he called cops. It was unclear how many times he was stabbed, but he miraculously escaped with only minor injuries.

During the attack, the owner said, he was only able to “think about my family.”

“As you see on the video, with one second you can lose your life,” he added. “But God can do something we cannot do.”

The woman, who hasn’t been named publicly, was later taken into custody.

It wasn’t immediately clear if she had been charged over the attack.
