Kari Lake, the Republican candidate for governor in Arizona, refuses to step down in the race for office after the questionable vote count was called by media sources on Monday. “Arizonans know BS when they see it.”, Lake said in a tweet. The state of Arizona has been the site of great controversy in the days following the 2022 election due to allegations of unsecured ballot boxes, an insufficient supply of ballots, and prolonged vote counting. Trump-backed Lake and many of her voters are calling foul and calling into question the integrity of the election.
Justice Prevails as Darrell Brooks is Imprisoned for Life
Darrell Brooks received six consecutive life sentences without the possibility of parole for killing six in a vehicular rampage at a 2021 Christmas parade in Waukesha, Wisconsin, killing six victims and injuring 61 others. Throughout Brooks’ trial, he represented himself, claiming that he was mentally inept at the time of the massacre. However, the Judge wasn’t convinced, and Brooks was convicted of a total of 76 charges.
CNN’s New Year’s Eve Prohibition
CNN is putting its foot down for New Year’s Eve celebrations in New York City. The news corporation has decided that New Year’s Eve will be entirely booze-free. This overreach of corporate authority is the first instance of a widespread booze-ban happening at the celebrations. The station allows a select few —Andy Cohen and Anderson Cooper— to be exempted from their Times Square Prohibition. CNN personalities are staying defiant, though, pledging to “party harder than we have ever partied before.”

Ukraine was quick to point fingers at Russia, and NATO was split down the middle on how best to approach the supposed act of aggression. However, NATO investigators now believe the missile was a stray that likely came from Ukraine’s anti-aircraft defense systems. Monday’s missile strike shows just how close the world might be to open warfare between the West and Russia.

Disgraced FTX founder and major Democratic donor Sam Bankman-Fried (SBF) has many comparing his actions to that of Bernie Madoff and Enron executives. Once the third largest cryptocurrency exchange in the world, FTX filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy protection last week. SBF faces allegations of secretly transferring $10 billion from FTX to his hedge fund, Alameda Research. A criminal probe was launched, and Senate Banking Committee Chairman Sherrod Brown summoned SBF to appear before the committee.
