Terrifying home invaders strangled a 70-year-old woman at a Hollywood Hills home before making off with a fortune in cash and jewelry, police said.
The Los Angeles Police Department responded to the 8500 block of Lookout Mountain Avenue in the Laurel Canyon area around 8 p.m. Thursday. They found at least one suspect had broken into the home to steal items and fled the scene before police arrived.
The victim, who was strangled and assaulted during the invasion, was taken to a local hospital in stable condition.
Footage from the scene showed nearly a dozen police cars outside the residence and air support canvassing for the suspect. Officers were seen closing off the area with yellow caution tape.

The suspects wore hoodies and masks during the break-in before taking off in a white Honda Accord with a “large amount” of cash and jewelry, NBC Los Angeles reported.
A neighbor described the victim’s house as the “perfect target.”
“It’s a dark street. It’s at the top. Dead-end street. Not many people on it,” he told NBC LA. “So, of course, it’s like the perfect street for a break-in.”
