99-year-old driver critically injures bicyclist, 80, in NJ hit-and-run, cops say

The unidentified female driver was stopped soon after police were called to the crash on Saturday afternoon in Helmetta, New Jersey, a tiny suburb about 40 miles southwest of New York City.

Police discovered the elderly bike rider — who was also otherwise unidentified — with “serious bodily injuries” on Main Street, police said.

He was rushed to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was listed in “critical but stable condition.”

The 99-year-old driver was stopped in neighboring Spotswood soon after the crash.

It’s not clear if the driver has been charged with any crimes.

The Jamesburg Police Department declined to provide additional details about the crash when contacted by The Post, claiming it is still under investigation by officers and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
