DeLucia Jr. was distraught over the death of his 95-year-old mother, Theresa DeLucia, and the impending sale of the Syosset home where they both lived when he opened fire inside the Wyoming Court home, killing four victims inside before shooting himself outside, police and neighbors told The Post.
“We heard a high-pitched scream, it was Joe screaming, then one shot. I was shocked. I never would have thought beforehand that this would happen,” their neighbor Sandy Landsman, 73, told The Post.
DeLucia Jr., who worked as an EMT, according to his social media posts, suffered from mental health issues that were exacerbated by his mother’s death last week, according to neighbors.
“His mother died last week. The siblings were getting ready to sell the house. We heard he was very upset over this. He didn’t know where to go, he had lived there his whole life. One of the siblings said she would take care of him that she would let him come and live with her. Apparently, that didn’t sound too good to him,” Landsman added.
Nassau County cops have yet to identify the four slain victims.
