Swiss International Air Lines flight 55 was departing for Zurich Tuesday evening when flames suddenly burst out of the plane’s right engine as it gathered speed on the runway.
The pilot immediately slows the plane to a complete stop before it left the ground, leaving a plume of smoke behind, video shows.
Emergency vehicles promptly responded to the scene within minutes.
Logan Airport ordered a temporary ground stop until the plane taxied to a gate under its own power, WHDH reported.
Swiss Air Lines said the passengers were put on another flight about five hours later.
No injuries were reported.
The FAA is investigating the incident.
