Aaron Rodgers & Jets Have a Promising Future

The NFL has its eyes on the New York Jets and their possible acquisition of the 39-year-old Packers quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. Fans anxiously await news of the final deal or lack thereof, but NFL insiders are saying Jets fans should be “cautiously optimistic.” Rodgers has kept his cards close to his chest after an in-person meeting with the Jets. Still, current Jets players have been enthusiastically egging Rodgers on over Twitter, with cornerback Sauce Gardner promising him, “if you become a Jet, I won’t pick you off in practice & I’ll burn the cheesehead.” Rodger’s future is possibly hanging in the balance, with many saying that it’s either the Jets or retirement, as the Packers look to be moving on and starting fresh with upcoming quarterback Jordan Love. New York is looking to get its hands on the Packers’ free agent and wide receiver, Allen Lazard. If the deal goes through, it’s just another sign that Rodgers will soon head to MetLife stadium.

NEW YORK POST: Jets pushing to sign Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb in huge Aaron Rodgers clue

By Justin Terranova; March 14, 2023

This could be the biggest clue yet that Aaron Rodgers is leaning towards accepting a trade to the Jets.

The team is actively working to sign Rodgers’ Packers target, Allen Lazard, in free agency, ESPN.com reports.

The Jets also have interest in veteran receiver Randall Cobb, who is one of Rodgers’ best friends.

There is another team involved in the pursuit of Lazard, who had 169 catches in five seasons in Green Bay.

That includes a career-high 60 receptions last season for the 27-year-old.

It is believed that Lazard is closely monitoring Rodgers’ decision, along with the rest of the NFL world.

Rodgers remained quiet on the first day of NFL free agency, even as the Jets and Packers are stuck in limbo with roster moves waiting for the 39-year-old to decide his NFL future.

“(Lazard) is a close friend of Aaron Rodgers and has been in touch with Rodgers recently. Much like everybody else, Allen Lazard is waiting to see what Aaron Rodgers is going to do,” NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo said on Monday.

“He’s got to make the call for his future and a long-term deal, potentially. He’d love to continue to play with Rodgers, potentially, if it lines up.”

Meanwhile, the 32-year-old Cobb had 34 catches for 417 yards last season.

“I want the Randall Cobbs of the world – if he wants to keep playing – in my locker room. Guys you can win with,” Rodgers said at the end of the season.
