The young teen was arrested and now faces second degree murder charges following the 11-year-old’s death in Newburgh on Thursday morning, WABC reported, citing police.

Officials said the boy shot and killed his friend, despite initial reports that the victim accidentally shot himself while playing with the gun.

A gun was recovered from the scene and three juveniles of interest were identified after police swarmed on the scene.

The victim has not been named, and the exact circumstances surrounding the shooting are not yet known.
