Lemon had posted a video of himself on TikTok earlier this week that showed him reacting to a clip Melania, 57, shared on social media addressing the attempt on Donald Trump’s life during his July 13 campaign rally in Butler, Pa.
In the video, the scandal-scarred former anchor could be seen rolling his eyes and shaking his head repeatedly as he filmed himself watching the former first lady recall the “distressing” and “horrible” ordeal.
At one point, Lemon threw his hands up in the air when Trump’s wife questioned law enforcement’s role in the bloody ordeal, saying “there is definitely more to this story and we need to uncover the truth.”
The backlash against Lemon was swift with many on social media slamming him as insensitive and “attention starved.”
“Don Lemon mocks Melania Trump describing her distress over the attempted ass*ss*nation of her husband. Sick,” the Libs of TikTok account tweeted.
“Hey @donlemon, so can you have empathy for a human without considering politics for once in your life?” Conservative commentator Paul Szypula said in a post on X.
“We should all be distressed when someone tries to kill a former president and actually kills an innocent man in the crowd. Do better Don Lemon,” radio host Stacy Washington added.

Meanwhile, journalist Ian Miles slammed Lemon as a “sick freak.”
Sky News host Rita Panahi also chimed in, tweeting: “Really @donlemon you’re going to mock a woman distressed by an assassination attempt against her husband & the many unanswered questions that remain to this day. Classy.”
Lemon’s video appears to have now been deleted from his TikTok page in the wake of the backlash.
