Driver fleeing cops makes death-defying escape from moving car during wild SoCal chase

A suspected car thief used a daring escape tactic as police chased him along a Southern California freeway early Friday morning.

The driver, who was being pursued by California Highway Police officers, crawled onto the roof of the allegedly stolen white Mercedes-Benz as it was rolling along the 605 and 91 freeway interchange in Cerritos before hopping off and making a run for it.

His escape ended quickly as CHP officers tackled and apprehended him moments later.

A different officer sprinted to stop the moving car, according to aerial footage from ABC 7.

At least three police cruisers arrived at the suspect was taken into custody.

YouTube commenters bashed the man’s escape methods.

“I thought I’ve seen it all..thats a first,” said one commenter who viewed online.

“He sure showed them,” another added.

Other commenters praised police for apprehending the man.

“Nice work by the CHP officers,” another wrote. “Thank you!”
