Freeze! Polish crook pretended to be a mannequin to get locked in mall for an all-night crime spree: cops

What a dummy!

A suspected crook has been accused of going on an all-night crime spree in a Polish shopping mall — after pretending to be a mannequin to get locked in.

The 22-year-old suspect faces up to 10 years in prison for allegedly “hunting” throughout the Warsaw mall once everyone left for the night, stealing jewelry and clothes and treating himself to two restaurant meals.

Police released a photo they said showed the suspect earlier “with a bag in his hand froze motionless, pretending to be a mannequin in front of a shop window.”

“In this way, he wanted to avoid being exposed by the cameras.”

After the shopping center closed, the crafty crook plundered a jewelry stand and swapped the clothes he was wearing for new ones after crawling under the partially closed shutters of another store, according to police.

He also had at least two meals throughout the night, according to cops.

But the suspect’s luck eventually ran out when a security guard spotted him and called the police.

The same man is also accused of plundering another shopping mall, where police said he stole money from cash registers and tried to grab other items from stores after closing time.

The suspect, who has not been publicly identified, has been charged with burglary and theft, and could face up to 10 years in prison.

The accused thief has been remanded in custody for three months, prosecutors said.
