House hearing on Garland devolves into chaos involving AOC, MTG & Crockett: ‘Are your feelings hurt? Aww’

The hearing on whether to move forward with a contempt resolution against Attorney General Merrick Garland spiraled out of control after Greene (R-Ga.) brought up the daughter of the Manhattan judge presiding over former President Donald Trump’s hush money trial and then commented on the physical appearance of Crockett (D-Texas).

“I’d like to know if any of the Democrats on this committee are employing Judge [Juan] Merchan’s daughter,” Greene asked.

Crockett demanded that Greene explain “what that has to do with Merrick Garland,” and asked the Republican firebrand, “Do you know what we’re here for?”

“I think you know what you’re here for,” Greene shot back. “I think your fake eyelashes are messing up what you’re reading.”

Chaos erupted in the chamber over the remark.

“That’s beneath even you, Ms. Greene!” Democratic ranking member Jamie Raskin (D-Md.) interjected, as the chairman of the panel, Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), repeatedly slammed his gavel and called for order.

“That is absolutely unacceptable!” Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) shouted at Greene as she demanded that her comments be stricken from the record.

“How dare you attack the physical appearance of another person!” the “Squad” lawmaker added.

Greene then mocked Ocasio-Cortez’s anger.

“Are your feelings hurt? Aww,” she said.

“Oh! Girl, baby, girl!” Ocasio-Cortez seethed. “Don’t even play!”

“Oh, really? Baby girl? I don’t think so,” Greene said.

“Oh! Girl, baby, girl!” Ocasio-Cortez seethed. “Don’t even play!”

The Georgia Republican later agreed to strike her words but refused to apologize to Crockett.

“I am not apologizing,” Greene said before challenging Ocasio-Cortez to a debate.

“Why don’t you debate me!” she demanded.

“I think it’s pretty self-evident!” Ocasio-Cortez fired back.

“Yeah, you don’t have enough intelligence,” Greene said in another barb, resulting in groans from the chamber and renewed requests to strike her words.

When things appeared to be settling down, Crockett took the mic and fired back at Greene, in a question to Comer about what constitutes a personal attack.

“I’m just curious. To better understand your ruling, if someone on this committee then starts talking about somebody’s bleached blond, bad-built, butch body, that would not be engaging in personalities, correct?” Crockett asked.
