Knife-wielding thief on the loose after slashing straphanger on Bronx subway: cops

*SUBWAY SLASH: A straphanger was slashed in the face by a knife-wielding thief on a Bronx subway car overnight, cops said. The violent perp first begged his 37-year-old victim for money on board a northbound D train just after 4 a.m. – but when the vic refused, the creep whipped out a knife, slashed him in the face, and stole his cell phone and backpack, police said. No arrests.

The violent episode occurred on a northbound D train as it pulled into the Kingsbridge Road station just after 4 a.m., police said.

The suspect had just boarded the train and approached one man, 37, asking for money.

When the man refused the perp pulled out a knife and demanded his cell phone – which the vic handed over, police said.

The sicko moved onto a second man, also 37, and asked for cash and was again rejected.

But instead of moving on, the perp slashed the man on the right side of the face, cops said.

The thief snatched the bloodied victim’s cell phone and backpack, and took off running from the Fordham subway station, police said.

The phones taken were an iPhone 13 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3, although it’s unclear which one belonged to each straphanger, according to cops.

Photos from the scene show the man with three bloody gashes on his right cheek.

Both victims refused medical attention, cops said.

So far there are no arrests and the investigation remains ongoing, police said.
