‘LIAR!’: Quick Roundup of President Biden’s SOTU

Joe Biden at SOTU

President Biden’s 2023 State of the Union on Tuesday evening didn’t fail to raise some eyebrows. The yearly address had conservatives outraged as the president used the stage to spread blatant lies about Republican priorities in the new 118th Congress. Although the president attempted to create a sense of unity, the positive message he was trying to convey was undermined by a series of gaffs and political attacks on his party’s opponents.

NEWS ROLLUP: ‘LIAR!’: Quick Roundup of President Biden’s SOTU

By News Rollup; February 8, 2023

President Biden delivered his 2023 State of the Union address to the nation Tuesday evening, outlining his vision for the future of the country. However, President Biden’s speech was marred in controversy and littered with the occasional gaffe. Of course, there was no shortage of outrage erupting throughout the speech, in which President Biden took repeated and sometimes falsified jabs at Republicans.

The elephant in the room was when the President made a false claim that Republicans were claiming to slash medicare, resulting in an outburst from Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who stood up and called the President a liar.

Another fib from Biden came when he exaggerated the number of jobs added to the U.S. economy. Biden claimed that ‘12 million new jobs’ have been created since the start of his presidency. In fact, only about 2.7 million jobs were added to the U.S. economy; the rest were jobs that were regained now that the COVID pandemic has subsided.

Biden also took the spotlight to double down on his party’s vague dedication to ‘ban assault weapons now,’ referencing the recent tragedy which left 11 people dead in a Los Angeles ballroom after a gunman opened fire with a semi-automatic pistol. This has led Republicans and Democrats, and the American public to question what exactly the President classifies as an ‘assault weapon.’

Last but not least, the President’s wife was able to steal the President’s thunder with a questionable kiss with second gentleman Dough Emhoff. The two were seen locking lips ahead of Biden’s speech, raising more than a few eyebrows on Twitter.

While President Biden’s 2023 State of the Union address may have been well-intentioned, it has left many Republicans with more questions than answers. However, despite these concerns, at the end of the day, President Biden remains optimistic about his plans for the future. In his speech, he emphasized his belief that the country must come together to face its challenges and that his administration is committed to working with both parties to make the American people’s lives better.
