Lunar New Year Mass Shooting Shocks LA County

Many were left speechless after a mass shooting spree carried out Saturday night during a Lunar New Year celebration left ten people dead and several more injured. The shooting occurred at Star Ballroom Dance Studio in Monterey Park in Los Angeles County. Huu Can Tran, a 72-year-old Chinese immigrant, is the man that police believe to be the gunman who carried out the act. Following the shooting at the Star Ballroom, police believe Tran made his way up to the Lai Lai Dance Studio just three miles north, where he intended to kill more but had his firearm wrestled away from him by bystanders. Unfortunately, little in the way of motive has been discovered as Tran was found dead in his car with a self-inflicted gunshot wound by police, leaving many wondering why someone would carry out such a horrific act.
