Missing football coach Travis Turner scrubbed from high school’s website after child-sex allegations

Turner, 46, had been widely celebrated at Union High School for helping lead the Union Bears football team to a so-far undefeated season.

But the school’s website went from celebrating the coach to fully ignoring him after it emerged that investigators had issued 10 warrants for his arrest on the disturbing child sex allegations.

Now, there is no mention of him on the school’s website, despite him having worked there for 11 years, as a football coach and also a physical education teacher.

The only Turner that shows up is his son, Bailey Turner, who also works there. There is no head coach for varsity football listed.

Turner suddenly disappeared from his Appalachia home on Thursday last week when investigators were heading to his home. He was put on paid leave the next day.

Officials then issued 10 warrants this week — five for possessing child pornography and five for using a computer to solicit a minor — as a huge search continued in the area, using drones and K-9 units.

The school confirmed it was aware of the investigation, saying that “the individual remains on leave and is not permitted on school property or to have contact with students.”

Turner’s wife, Leslie Turner, also 46, has stood by her still-missing husband.

“None of that is true. He’s a good dad and a good husband,” she told MailOnLine.

Turner is from a football family. His father, Tom Turner, also coached at Union High and achieved All American status, an award given to the top players in a specific position, while in college, according to Sports Illustrated.

This isn’t the first time a Union High employee has been accused of a sex crime. In 2023, teacher and coach Timothy Lee Meador pled guilty to child solicitation and remains a registered sex offender in the area.
