More voters think Hunter Biden, Joe Biden and Trump broke the law: poll

More than half of US voters believe both first son Hunter Biden and former President Donald Trump have done something illegal — and a growing number believe the same of President Biden, a new poll has found.

The Fox News survey found 52% of registered voters believe Hunter Biden flouted the law when it came to his business dealings in Ukraine and China, up from 50% in August and 39% in December of last year.

Of the remainder, 36% said the first son did “something unethical” and only 8% said he did “nothing seriously wrong,” down from 19% in December 2022.

The same proportion (52%) said the 77-year-old Trump had committed illegal activity in hoarding national security documents and trying to overturn the result of the 2020 presidential election. Another 23% said the former president had done “something wrong” and 24% said Trump did “nothing seriously wrong.”

The poll also found a plurality of voters (40%) believe the 80-year-old commander-in-chief did something wrong concerning his son’s foreign business interests, up from 38% in August and 35% in December.

Another 29% said Joe Biden acted unethically, while 28% said he did “nothing seriously wrong.”

Earlier this month, Hunter Biden pleaded not guilty to all three counts lodged against him in Delaware for allegedly lying on federal paperwork to purchase a firearm while addicting to illicit drugs.

The first son may also face tax charges in other jurisdictions related to income from his overseas businesses after a plea deal imploded in July under scrutiny from a federal judge.

The investigation into the first son by special counsel David Weiss has been dogged by allegations of political favoritism from two IRS whistleblowers.

Hunter Biden sat on the board of Ukrainian natural gas firm Burisma Holdings from 2014 to 2019. During that time, then-Vice President Biden pressured Ukraine to fire top prosecutor Viktor Shokin, who was investigating the company.

The president has vehemently denied even speaking to his son about his overseas business despite a mountain of evidence to the contrary.

Last month, House Republicans initiated an impeachment inquiry into the commander-in-chief over the issue.

Meanwhile, Trump is facing a total of 91 counts spanning across four indictments, and has pleaded not guilty to all of them, adamantly denying wrongdoing.

Last month, House Republicans initiated an impeachment inquiry into the commander-in-chief over the issue.

This includes four counts related to his alleged efforts to subvert the 2020 election, 40 counts for alleged unlawful retention of national security information, 13 counts for alleged election tampering in Georgia, and 34 counts of allegedly falsifying business records to conceal hush money payments.

Despite the political undertones of the investigations into Trump and Hunter Biden, most voters believe the legal system is being even-handed.

Some 68% believe Hunter Biden is being treated fairly compared to 25% who believe he is being given unfair treatment. Meanwhile, 55% think the treatment of Trump has been fair, while 44% say otherwise, according to the poll.

The Fox News poll was taken from Oct. 6 to 9 and sampled 1,007 registered voters with a margin of error of plus-or-minus three percentage points.
