Nick Reiner was diagnosed with schizophrenia, new meds made him ‘out of his head’ before parent’s murders: sources

The iconic director’s troubled middle son, 32, was being treated by a psychiatrist for his condition — but in the month before the murders, his behavior became “alarming” as doctors switched his medication, sources told TMZ.

About three to four weeks before Rob Reiner and his wife were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood mansion, his prescription was altered, making him “erratic and dangerous,” the sources said.

Doctors were trying to adjust his medication to balance him out — but the adjustment reportedly was not working and actually made things worse, combined with his substance abuse.

Once his medication was changed, “Nick was out of his head,” a source told TMZ.

He had been receiving treatment at a ritzy Los Angeles mental health and substance abuse facility favored by the rich and powerful that charges an eye-popping $70,000 per month, according to the outlet.
