Police were called to East 86th Street at just after 9 a.m. on a report of a suspect who had violated an order of protection and encountered a man with a gun, according to sources.

The suspect ran from officers on foot, the sources said.

During the chase, an officer fired a shot that struck the man in the chest, according to sources.

He was taken to NYC Health + Hospitals / Kings County, the sources added.
