Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch sings praises of NYPD’s gang database that Mamdani is intent on abolishing

“Much of the violence of what we’ve seen over the last few weeks in the Bronx is gang-related — we know who the gang members are thanks to a Criminal Group database and know where they operate,” said the city’s top cop, praising what has also been referred to as the gang database.

“We know who the people are and are going after them,” she added on 1010 Wins Wednesday morning.

In 2022, Mamdani, the far-left Democratic nominee in the mayoral race, joined a trio of council members calling for the dismantling of the gang database.

During the primary, the socialist lawmaker from Queens doubled down during a series of forums.

Flanked by Mayor Eric Adams, fresh off his birthday jaunt to Florida, Tisch played down recent shootings as outliers.

“Our shooting incidents in the borough of the Bronx are down 20%,” she said, adding, “The shootings in the borough of the Bronx is trending down.”

Adams blamed the series of tragic high-profile incidents for creating the feeling of unease — despite the numbers speaking otherwise.

“We’re clear that some of these high-profile shootings with multiple victims, it just creates a feeling of unsafe and we have been focusing on that,” he said. “But the numbers don’t lie, the city is still the safest big city in the country.”
