The DA’s office slammed former President Donald Trump on Thursday for allegedly breaching a court order that bars him from disparaging jurors and witnesses in the “hush money” case against him “seven more times” in the past few days, calling it “ridiculous.”
Trump’s most “disturbing post” — in light of a juror reporting Thursday morning that she was intimidated by media attention on the case — came last night, prosecutor Chris Conroy said.
Trump had reposted a quote, from Fox News host Jesse Watters, which said “they are catching undercover liberal activists lying to the judge” in order to get on the Trump jury.
Trump’s lawyer Emil Bove claimed Trump did not make any “willful violations” of the judge’s gag order, which has some “ambiguities.”
Conroy said the posts clearly flout the order and asked Justice Juan Merchan to hold Trump in contempt of court, which could lead to fines and theoretically jail time of up to 30 days.
“It’s ridiculous. It has to stop,” Conroy said.
