Blackburn (R-Tenn.) contended that Harris was a “failure” on handling the crisis at the Southern border. Her resolution will function as a Senate companion to the resolution that House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-NY) introduced last month. The House ultimately passed it on July 25.
“Since her very first day in office, Vice President Harris – President Biden’s designated Border Czar – has refused to take the national security and safety crisis at our southern border seriously,” Blackburn told The Post.
“The Biden-Harris administration has presided over more than 10 million illegal border crossings and has released nearly 100 individuals on the terrorist watchlist into our country. Vice President Harris can run, but she cannot hide from her disastrous record that has killed countless innocent Americans,” she added.
Harris and her allies have attempted to distance her from the “border czar” moniker, claiming that she was merely tasked with addressing the “root causes” of migration from Latin American countries into the US instead of the crisis writ large.
After the president tasked Harris with tackling “root causes,” it took her about three months before she trekked down to the border. Blackburn’s resolution took note of that.
Stefanik’s resolution came up for a vote last month and six Democrats backed the measure — Reps. Yadira Caraveo of Colorado, Henry Cuellar of Texas, Don Davis of North Carolina, Jared Golden of Maine, Marie Gluesenkamp Perez of Washington and Mary Peltola of Alaska.
Given the slim Democratic control of the upper chamber, Blackburn’s companion legislation will likely face hurdles to getting passed.
Over half a dozen local sheriffs and officials had publicly endorsed the resolution to condemn Harris on the border.
“Under Harris’ open border and failure as a Border Czar historic number of Americans have died from the fentanyl that the criminal cartels push through the open border along with an historic number of people arrested that were on the terror watch list,” former director of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Thomas Homan said in a statement.
“From day one, Vice President Kamala Harris has been unrelenting in her goal to open our nation’s borders and grant mass amnesty. She believes in decriminalizing illegal immigration; wants to abolish ICE; and supports free education and health care for all illegal aliens.”
Polls have generally shown that the border remains a potent issue for voters ahead of the Nov. 5 presidential election.
Earlier, the Harris campaign put out an ad promoting her stance on the border and faulting former President Donald Trump for the failure of a bipartisan reform package to remedy the crisis.
“Should Harris be allowed to continue her efforts to erase our nation’s border, she will turn America into a sanctuary country,” Mark Morgan, former Commissioner of US Customs and Border Protection, predicted in a statement to The Post.

Harris’ campaign has countered attacks against her record on the border by accusing Republicans of playing games with the politically fraught issue.
Other Republicans have similarly taken aim at Harris on the border. Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), for example, demanded the Department of Homeland Security cough up documents related to her role with confronting root causes of migration from Latin American countries.
“If the Biden-Harris administration kept the Trump-era border policies in place, we would not have had over 10 million illegal immigrants enter our country since 2021,” said Brandon Judd, former President of the National Border Patrol Council.
