Slow speed chase! Hit-and-run suspect leads cops on 3 mph pursuit down Florida highway

FLAGLER COUNTY, Fla. - Deputies from the Flagler County Sheriff's Office found themselves in a highly unusual pursuit when a man led them on what they have called "possibly the slowest chase in FCSO history" â crawling along U.S. 1 at just 3 mph. https://www.fox35orlando.com/news/deputies-pursue-suspect-driving-3-mph-possibly-slowest-chase-fcso-history?utm_source=fark&utm_medium=website&utm_content=link&ICID=ref_fark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqfnBNLGfaI The incident began when 33-year-old Kyle McNary, driving at a sluggish 15 to 20 mph, allegedly kicked a passenger out of his vehicle after pulling over to switch seats. The passenger reported McNary refused to drive faster. McNary then allegedly hit another car and drove off, leaving the victim stranded on the roadside. Deputies caught up to McNary, but despite their attempts to stop him, he continued driving at a snailâs pace. Eventually, McNary pulled over and was taken into custody. "We do appreciate that he wasnât driving recklessly," said Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly, noting that stop sticks were used to safely bring the chase to an end.

A hit-and-run suspect led cops on a laughably slow 3-mph chase down a Florida highway — with at least four police cars trailing him at a snail’s pace as their sirens wailed, wild video shows.

Kyle McNary, 33, was allegedly first spotted kicking a passenger out of his black Kia SUV then slamming into another car and driving off on U.S. 1 near Bunnell on Sept. 25, according to the Flagler County Sheriff’s Office.

As cops signaled for him to pull over, he hit the gas — barely — and led police on the leisurely-paced pursuit, which at times slowed to just 1 mph, according to Flagler County Sheriff Rick Staly.

“This has gotta be one of the slowest ones I’ve seen in my career,” Staly told FOX 35. “It’s possibly the slowest chase in [county] history.”

McNary allegedly made several U-turns across the highway median then got stuck on ditch on the side of the road — but still refused to exit the vehicle, police said in a press release.

Cops were forced to break the window of his SUV before cuffing him on the ground and arresting him,  according to police.

McNary was hit with charges for failing to stop at a crash, fleeing and eluding law enforcement, assault on an officer and other charges.

It wasn’t immediately clear why he was driving so slowly.
