The arrest was reported Wednesday morning by ABC News and NBC Los Angeles, citing multiple law enforcement sources. The suspect has not yet been publicly identified by officials.

A formal announcement is expected by federal authorities later Wednesday, though it’s unclear what charges the suspect could face, NBC LA reported.

The Palisades Fire killed 12 people and was among several wildfires that caused billions in property damage when it initially started on Jan. 7.

Officials said in January that the fire could have been caused by scorch marks left by an earlier inferno from fireworks set off on New Year’s Eve, the Washington Post reported at the time.
