A Texas woman, intoxicated over four times the legal limit for alcohol, tragically slammed into a man at 100 miles per hour while he was on a first date. Joe McMullin, 33, who the drunk driver killed, was on his first date with Briana Iturrino at the time of the crash. His body was thrown over 30 feet in the air at the impact, and he died immediately on the scene. After investigating the scene, the driver of the car, Kristina Chambers, and two passengers were found injured inside the wreck of their blue Porsche 911. Police found possible traces of drugs such as cocaine and Adderall inside the vehicle, and Chambers has been charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and manslaughter.

A 32-year-old Houston woman has been accused of plowing her Porsche into a man on a first date, killing him, as she was going about 100 mph while at nearly four times the legal alcohol limit.
The driver, Kristina Chambers, was seen in a horrifying video slamming a blue Porsche 911 Carrera into Joe McMullin, 33, throwing him 30 feet into the air, before crashing into a pole at about 2:30 a.m. April 19, police said.
Chambers had been driving so fast that she failed to navigate a curve and hit a curb before striking McMullin, who had just left Voodoo Doughnut shop with his date, Briana Iturrino.
“We had gone to karaoke at AvantGarden. When we got out, the taco truck was closed, but he knew Voodoo would be open,” Iturrino told KTRK.
“He asked if I wanted to take my car. I said, ‘Well, it’s not that far. We can walk. Fresh air,’” she said.
Iturrino said they were strolling on the sidewalk when she noticed the fast-moving sports car barreling toward them.
“I felt something graze my hip. I don’t know whether it was the car grazing my hip, or Joe’s foot as he flew by. Immediately, I was like, ‘Where’s Joe?’” she told the outlet.
She said she called 911 and a dispatcher instructed her to perform CPR until paramedics arrived, but McMullin died at the scene.
“He was so sweet. He smiled throughout the entire date. He was funny, good taste in music. He didn’t deserve to go like that,” Iturrino told KHOU.
Chambers and her two passengers were injured in the wreck. She was charged with intoxication manslaughter.
Chambers’ blood-alcohol content was nearly four times over the legal drinking limit, according to court records cited by the Houston Chronicle.
“There was a lot of alcohol in her system,” said Kelly Marshall, a prosecutor with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, the news outlet reported.
She added that investigators at the crash site found traces of suspected drugs — possibly Adderall and cocaine — inside her purse.
Chambers told investigators that she drank a beer at 9:30 p.m. April 19 — five hours before the crash — but nothing else after that, Marshall said.
One of the passengers told authorities that Chambers did not drink at the bar that she was at before the crash, but police are investigating that, as well as whether she may have been over-served.
On Wednesday, Chambers made her first court appearance on the charge of intoxication manslaughter. She was wheeled inside with her left arm in a sling and her right leg in a cast.
Chambers’ defense attorney Mark Thiessen told the court that his client — who broke her leg and clavicle — was not guilty and cited poor road conditions as a cause of the accident.
“We are going to get all the evidence in discovery and properly look at whether this was a crime or should just be a civil lawsuit,” Thiessen told the court, the Chronicle reported.
But prosecutors fired back that his suggestion that it should be a civil case was “insulting.”
“For the family to sit in the room and hear that this is a civil case and that this is about money. This is not about money,” Marshall said. “This is about reportedly a crime being committed, that his defendant was driving while intoxicated and killed their loved one.”
Thiessen described Chambers as unemployed and said her husband is the sole provider.
She lives with her husband of six years, Xuan Si, a portfolio manager, in a $1.5 million home, the Daily Mail reported.
Judge Te’iva Bell ordered that Chambers be held on a $50,000 bond and barred her from driving unless she gets a job — adding that she must install a landline at her home to show she is abiding by the conditions.
McMullin’s parents, brother and sister-in-law attended the hearing, holding hands.
His grieving mother described her late son as a music lover and doting uncle.
“As a mother with two adult sons, you want them to find happiness in life,” Lynn McMullin told the Chronicle as she sat next to her husband, Chris, her younger son and his wife.
“He would want us to be together and be brave,” she added.
McMullin said her son loved live music so much that he found time around his two jobs to see shows, adding that she accompanied him to Coachella in California in 2012.
“I didn’t belong at Coachella but there we were,” she told the paper.
McMullin’s sister-in-law, Anna McMullin, suggested that he likely would have become friends with Iturrino had the date not worked out.
“Most of his dates turned into friendships,” she said.
