Tense video captures the moment a retired NYPD cop shot and wounded a man who threatened him with a machete during a broad-daylight road rage incident on Staten Island this week.

The brief clip obtained by The Post shows a light-colored SUV with a 45-year-old man behind the wheel whizzing into a parking spot at Vineland Avenue near Grantwood Avenue in Annadale at around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday.

As the 50-year-old ex-cop pulls up in a maroon SUV behind his vehicle, the first driver gets out and runs around the front of his rival’s ride, holding a machete.

That’s when the retiree jumps into action, opening his car door as he lets off about three gunshots, the video shows.

As he steps out of his car, he fires a final round, directly at the other motorist, who throws his machete as he falls to the ground.

He can be seen laying in the middle of the street, moaning and grunting in pain – at one point trying to get up before falling back down.

The wounded man was taken to Staten Island University Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.

The shooter stayed at the scene, and no one immediately faced charges.
